For more than a century, the Knox Memorial Theater has been an important part of the cultural life of Mount Vernon, Ohio. Located at 112 East High Street, just one block east of the Public Square, the historic Memorial Building opened in 1925 and was created in part to honor Knox County veterans while providing the community with a place for entertainment and gatherings. Renovations in 2014 included an elevator that made the building fully accessible, as well as improvements to stage lighting, sound, technology, and public restrooms.

The building includes Veterans Hall, a ballroom, banquet facilities, dressing rooms, a kitchen, meeting spaces, and the main theater, allowing it to host everything from performances and concerts to weddings, receptions, reunions, educational programs, business events, and other community gatherings.
Today, the Knox Memorial remains an important part of Mount Vernon‘s arts and entertainment scene. Organizations such as the Community Concert Association of Knox County regularly bring live performances to the theater, while local arts groups such as MTVarts use the venue for theatrical productions and other programming. The Community Concert Association has been bringing live entertainment to the Mount Vernon area for more than 100 years, with Knox Memorial serving as its primary concert venue.
