Along the river runs the 14-Mile Kokosing Gap Bike Trail, an old railroad that has been covered with asphalt for bikers, runners, dog walkers, roller bladers, etc. to travel along the path. The path runs through Mount Vernon, Gambier, and Danville. The Kokosing Gap Bike Trail features bridges, canopies of trees, and an old steam locomotive.

The Brown Family Environmental Center is a popular spot to visit in Gambier, Ohio. Visitors and residents can explore their beautiful butterfly garden, 7-acre prairie, and wetlands and hike on their well-kept trails. Bird watchers can enjoy spotting a variety of different species of birds. The BFEC also has easy access to the Kokosing Gap Bike Trail.

Right down the road is Wolf Run Park, which is the perfect spot to take your canine companion and let them run in a fenced area complete with an obstacle course. Hikers can enjoy going on walks through the country hills and get a breath of fresh air.

During the summer months, the Kenyon Inn hosts “Party on the Patio,” which is an outdoor party with local bands to play at the restaurant while customers can sit back and relax with some food and drinks.

Gambier is in the Mount Vernon City Schools district, which includes nine schools, one of which is Wiggin Street Elementary located in Gambier.
